London Olympics 2012 logo looks (How shall we say?) butt-ugly

Monday, August 4th, 2008

The Brand Republic is reporting that UK marketers are concerned that the new logo for the upcoming 2012 Olympics in London is “ineffective” with 57% of those surveyed believing it was not an effective design and 30% strongly believing so.  I think they’re being kind.

The logo took about a year to complete and cost £400,000.

For only £200,000 I promise SnapTortoise will deliver you a logo that is better than half that ugly :)

I stumbled across this tidbit when I was doing a search to find out if the Olympic logo (The one with the 5-rings) is trademarked and who owns it.  I’m a working on a project that is very Olympics-centric and wanted to use the logo but wasn’t sure about the legality of doing so.
