Ingenious iPhone trick to lighten your wallet

I generally try my best to avoid posting blog entires that boil down to the “Gee, this is neat [link]” variety, but… This is just too neat.

The author of the blog at ‘t Is Goud was tired of lugging around his various club cards and only seldom-used whatnots in his wallet. Because bar-codes really are as simple as they look, he decided to scan these cards and move them into a photo gallery on his iPhone. Now when he needs to scan his membership card at the supermarket or wherever, he can scroll to the appropriate image of the card on his phone and use it as though it were the real thing.

I’m thinking about stealing this idea and giving it a go with some of my own cards. It seems ideally suited for self-checkout lines at the supermarket and perhaps less-so for situations where you have to hand your card to the person behind the register.

Now if I can just figure out a way to get my free coffee punch cards on there without risking serious damage to my iPhone, we’ll be in business.
